Week 4

Ahoy all you scurvy sailors and pirate hookers! You stoked for Week 5 yet? Well lets take a look back at Week 4 before we get ahead of ourselves now!

Game Recaps:

Morningwood 5 Afternoon Delights 3: Morningwood squeaked outta this one at the top of the 5th with the 2 game winning runs brought home by Kyle Rannie's boot. They live to see another day as the victors and will try to defend their unbeaten streak this weekend. The AD's put forth a valiant effort in this contest, and will have to bounce back from this heart-breaking loss in Week 5.
Menace 2 Sobriety 1 DogBalls 0 (forfeit): M2S got off with an easy win, hopefully the DogBalls can get better participation going into this following weekend. Both squads did duke it out in a friendly match however, so the day wasn't a total wash for either side.
SF Natives 2 Drunkaroos 10: Woah, talk about taking it to the house. The Drunkaroos stuck it to the Natives big time this week. Natives, there's nothing you can do, but lick your wounds and live to fight another day. Congrats to the Roos on an impressive win, their Captain Ryan had this to say to our league, "the Drunkaroos are THE force to be reckoned with in 2008!" Well, we'll have to wait and see about that one Ryan.
Sleazy Bandeezee 12 Everlasting Gobstoppers 0: And I thought the Natives vs Roos game was brutal. Sleazy are apparently trying to send a message to the rest of the league with this recent victory. I hope everyone's taking note. Another tough break for the EG's, maybe its time to switch the rooster up a bit?
The Playground Bullies 6 Sunkiss Our Balls 3: Not the score line I wanna see after being away all weekend, but hats off to the PB's for turning their team around from last season. They're one of only two undefeated teams in our league now. Jordon "Grizz" was their hero of the day bringing home 3 runs late in the game, definitely a player to watch out for down the stretch. Never fear Sunkiss will rebound, mark my words, and now we've got revenge on our minds.
PODYatrists 6 I Am McLovin 1: A tough matchup as compared to the two blowouts this past weekend, but the PODY's knew what they were doing all along. After a score in the first inning by McLovin the PODY's put together a string of runs in each inning that followed, to throw another one in the win column.

Seventh Inning Stretch:

SIS is two parts this week.

First, this week SIS's going to look back on famous moments and Pirates in history, in celebration of this forthcoming weekend's theme. But before I get started, do you ever wonder about the relation between our Barbary Coast here in San Francisco and the famous Barbary Pirates? Well there isn't any relation, so stop pondering! Now check this out ya Landlubbers:

Let us remember the jolly Captain Red Beard and his Pirate
advocacy capaign against all those lame-ass Ninjas.

And who could forget the heroic young Pirate Mikey, and his
famous adventure featuring the likes of Captain Sparrow, One-Eyed Willy and the crew of the Black Pearl!?

Of course we couldn't look back on history and forget about one of our everlasting heroes, Captain Morgan!? Why, people even revel in his exploits today, like that time he hosted that all-night Pirate Bros and Beer Wench Hos costume party!? Phenomenal! I saw them
do a rendition on the television just the other day!

And, shiver me timbers! How could we skip out on the most infamous Pirate of 'em all! The dreadful Pirate Bonds! Here's a
rare photo of him before he started sluggin' fly balls at passing freighters in San Francisco Bay! Hard to believe, but photos don't lie folks!

And of course there's the first keyboard for pirates invented by Looney Bill Baxter! It took some perfectin', but
we finally got it right!

Well... that's pretty much that... As you can tell by our keyboard, most pirates can't really figure out computers yet! Enjoy the rest of the blog ya mangy-scallywags!

Second, we're gonna spill about our "SHORT BUS SUPERLATIVES" so you kids can get acquainted with 'em and start coming up with some ideas (or suggestions for new categories). So, remember high school superlatives? These a kinda like that, only not as flattering - that's the general idea, and we'll nominate people all in good fun. A few categories we're pondersizing include:

"Most likely to blackout on a Sunday"
"Most likely to bunt"
"Best team spirit"
"Flip Cup All-Stars"
"Most annoying team cheer" (Morningwood, I made this one up just for you!)

We'll have more, and we'll run a newsletter with all the finalists before the season is out, and the final weeks letter will post who won. This requires a bunch of reader cooperation, so keep your eyes peeled for our finalist week! In the meantime if you have suggestions (for nominations or categories to vote on), shoot 'em over to thefinalbunt@gmail.com. Thanks gang!

Periodical Prognostications:

  1. Pirates will run rampant in Golden Gate park as the Vertigo Kickball Division kicks off Week 5 celebrating our Theme of the Week!
  2. Scott Biezad will take strange and unwarranted photos of Lindsay Mayfield's face/head without her knowledge.
  3. My team makes a triumphant turn-around and scores one in the W column.
  4. My "best bet" prediction: Kezar Pub will be the site of mass revelry, and everyone will live happily ever after.
  5. My "out of left field" predicition: people will show up sober to Sunday's kickball games after our city wide kickball bar crawl this Saturday.

Poll of the Week:

Hey gang, since we have so many finalists for this week's ridiculous photo section, we're gonna have you choose the winner in our poll! Check out the pics (click 'em to read the captions too) and then vote for your favorites in our poll on the right!

Picture of the Week:

Check out team Sunkiss Our Balls, this week's POTW!

Kickballers of the Week:

Charlie Kehoe is this week's male KOTW for catching a pop fly between his legs! Captain Carly Mangel of team PODYatrists had this to say of Charlie, "Charlie also brought home a run for the PODY's," which helped them defeat team I Am McLovin. Carly also wanted to mention, "Happy Anniversary Charlie and V!"

Claudine Daggit is the other KOTW for the week! Captain Ryan Loughlin of team Drunkaroos nominated Claudine because, "Claudine confidently stepped into the closer role and slammed the door shut on the SF Natives." Claudine's positive attitude and athletecism has paid dividends for the Roos and inspired them to continue to play well together.

Ridiculous Photo of the Week:
