Week 10 Playoffs

Woah, I gotta say; yesterday was what kickball is all about guys. Teams of people intermixing, talking trash, rocking out to tunes, reconnecting and having spirited kickball competitions. In the end we saw the rise of a fresh new challenger and the domination of a battle-tested corp of kickball alums. It was definitely one for the history books, and it everyone's spirits were high, especially when the sun came out! Its been a great season, and with all that said, its onto the last Final Bunt for this Spring...

Recaps:

Captains, countrymen, children of all ages, send me your scores and I'll post the recaps here. Here's what I know so far, Menace 2 Sobriety made it through the quarters with a 5-1 over Playground Bullies, then a 6-2 win in the Semi's versus Sunkiss Our Balls, before losing (don't know the score) to Morningwood. Sunkiss won by forfeit over Dogballs, and again over PODY artists before losing to Menace. Drunkaroos beat Sleazy Bandeezee in the quarters (score?) before losing to Morningwood after an extremely hard fought and drawn out game (score? My guess is 4-2). Morningwood won in the quarterfinals against ? (team, score), before they played Drunkaroos.

Please fill me in on the rest and I'll get to work! Thanks!

Seventh Inning Stretch:

Well gang, its been fun doing these little editorials. Coming up with new things to write about, spending a couple hours at work procrastinating, but as I'm on vacation right now and I'm sorta having a bit of writers block. Sooooooo anyway...

F'real though, there was a lot of good stuff that went on this season and I think it'd be cool now, with this last edition of the Final Bunt to reflect back on everything:

1) There was our first unofficial weekend of kickball back in April. Argueably the biggest turnout for us all season. We had bbq, beer, friends coming together to catch up on each others lives from last season. It was a great day in the park.
2) For a while in the first half of the season we had fun in Kezar, playing flip cup, talking smack, and rocking out to 80's jams too.
3) There were the few Alpha Bar events in the spring, that helped us keep the party going in between games.
4) Of course "I Love the 80's" day was a big hit (at least compared to "Pirate Day").
5) There was the rise of Menace 2 Sobriety at the end of the season from relative obscurity.
6) There was the onslaught of victories won by PODY atrists and Drunkaroos that introduced us to two new kickball powers.
7) There was the kickassidly, outrageous End of Season Party our social chairs helped launch, who could forget... I mean remember that!
8) There was our last hoorah during the Playoffs. Dozens of players from each team came out MASSIVELY EARLY on a Sunday to kick some lil' red balls all over the park and decide our eventual champs.
9) And because of every crazy thing we did, and the alcohol that was consumed, all the mistakes... I mean TERRIFIC ideas we concocted and followed through with each and every Sunday in the park. Who can forget all the innapropriateness, no really who? I mean if they really forgot, they should scroll back through our newsletters to relive the glory. We have photographic evidence after all!
10) Finally there's all the friends we made during our alcohol induced good times. I'm hoping we'll make more of those next season of course, and get to see all of you back again this fall!

Picture of the Week:

Our Division Champs, celebrating somewhat innapropriately (eh hem Dresda). Would you expect any less?

Players of the Week:

Tiffanie Wong of team Morningwood is our female Player of the Week. Tiffany rolled up to kickball on Sunday with a sprained ankle and crutches. After a few rounds of slap the bag though, she was back to her regular all-star self and could be spotted rounding the bases in her cleats w/o the crutches. Brian, team Morningwood's captain, claimed it was her best day of kickball yet!

Logan & Carly of team PODY artists are our other players of the week. Those two did some of the best officiating I've ever come across in my 2 seasons of kickball when Menace 2 Sobriety downed Sunkiss Our Balls in the Semi-Final round of the playoffs. Big thank you to them, and watch out for their team next season!

One last final shout out to team Drunkaroos, who have announced their retirement from the Vertigo League, as they look to join a weekday division in San Fran. You all were a force to be reckoned with, and we'll miss you next season!

Ridiculous Photo(s) of the Week:

Some people have no shame, and we call these people ALL-STARS!
